Business Info
The first Granite Brewery opened in 1985 by Kevin Keefe in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He had trained at the Ringwood Brewery in England and saw an opportunity to bring the English style ales to Halifax. After several years of planning, Kevin’s brother, Ron, came on as a partner and opened our location in Toronto. When we opened in 1991, many Torontonians did not know what craft beer was, much less tasted it. It was a time when the beer market was dominated by mega-breweries and the beer sel ection from bar to bar was predictable. Today, after nearly 25 years in operation, we continue to produce unique, quality English ales in a market that has embraced the craft beer revolution with open arms. With the help of Ron’s daughter, Mary Beth Keefe, taking over as head brewmaster, we have grown our roster of ales from seven to over fifteen seasonal and rotating drafts with a specialty in cask-conditioned ales. We are proud of the beer we produce and the loyal customers we serve. Come by and say hello!   Read More
