NRI Legal Services supports lawyer competence by providing the legal community with access to a comprehensive collection of Indian alegal materials available electronically and in print. Valuable and timely reference and research assistance enhance services provided by lawyers. The NRI Legal Services was established in 1973. It carries out various statutory functions, including: maintaining and improving the standards of conduct and learning of the legal profession in India; facilitating the ac quisition of legal knowledge by members of the legal profession; representing, protecting and assisting members of the legal profession in India; promoting in any manner the Society thinks fit the interests of the legal profession in India; and protecting and assisting the public in all matters ancillary or incidental to the law. Every India lawyer who has in force a practising certificate is automatically a member of the NRI Legal Services. Certain categories of foreign lawyers registered with the Legal Services Regulatory Authority are also automatically members of the NRI Legal Services. The mission of the NRI Legal Services is to serve its members and the public by sustaining an independent bar which upholds the rule of law and ensures access to justice.
